Vodafone and Three UK to launch BlackBerry Bold 9900 in UK

RIM officially announced their new addition to BlackBerry Bold series which is known as the BlackBerry Bold 9900. It’s the first phone to feature the new BlackBerry OS 7, which comes with a lot of new features. Bold 9900 is a good looking phone and it’s the slimmest BlackBerry yet. When the phone was announced, T-Mobile USA was the first one to grab it but now it looks like T-Mobile USA is not alone anymore because our friends over at Pocket-Lint are saying that Vodafone and Three UK will also launch this device. It’s also the fastest BlackBerry yet with 1.2 GHz processor and the first one to feature NFC capabilities. T-Mobile USA is launching this device later this year, so I think Vodafone and Three UK will also launch it later this year. Check out our hands-on video and photos of Bold 9900.

I think this is very good news for all the BlackBerry owners in UK. As competition between mobile networks in UK is very strong, my sixth sense is saying that other UK carriers i.e. Orange, T-Mobile, O2 etc. will also launch the Bold 9900. So BlackBerry lovers in UK, are you getting the device later this year?

The BlackBerry Tablet aka the Playbook went on sale last week in U.S.A and initial sales have been estimated at around 50000 units on day one. Most initial reviews liked the hardware and UI but complained about the lack of native email and messaging.

RIM has promised that an update will fix most of the shortcomings present at launch. And guess what RIM has already rolled out 2 huge (>200MB) firmware updates for the Playbook according to Business Insider including an update which adds a onscreen power-off button to satisfy users who were finding it difficult to use the physical power button. Hope the device gets native E-mail and BBM soon !
