Only yesterday we saw Samsung being generous with their Gingerbread helpings for a range of Galaxy devices and today there’s something for Defy users. Although unofficial, there’s a fairly stable mode of Gingerbread that’s available at XDA Developers forum.
An illegal Gingerbread affair...
Obviously one major issue with the Motorola Defy was that it came pre-loaded with Éclair and at that point in time there wasn’t any mention about an upgrade to FroYo. While users finally got a taste of FroYo, it’s quite apparent that they should be getting a Gingerbread update soon. As usual, a member from the XDA forum has a Gingerbread ROM which seems to be good otherwise but has a few issues with the camera’s functioning and apparently the smartphone crashes when trying out Android’s system animations.
As always, you can download the ROM from their site, but only if you know how to do it. The good news here is that an official Gingerbread update looks quite plausible for the Defy now.
